  • Jason Momoa interview

In the run-up to the release of epic fantasy series, Game Of Thrones, we met actor Jason Momoa to talk about his character, and what we can expect from the forthcoming Conan movie…

    Published on Apr 4, 2011

Game Of Thrones may be a sprawling fantasy drama filled with an entire planet full of characters to try to remember, but one figure stands out above all others, such is his imposing, shadowy aura. We’re referring to Jason Momoa’s turn as the hulking warrior, Khal Drogo, a barbaric warlord who, despite the fact that he speaks in an unintelligible language, quickly becomes one of the show’s most memorable characters.

Momoa’s also bringing his elemental presence to the role of Conan the barbarian, which is set to arrive this summer, and we were excited to be given the opportunity to sit down for a round table interview with the actor to discuss his roles as both Drogo and the similarly macho Conan.

Note: the interview contains some (very mild) spoilers for Game Of Thrones, and also some strong language…

    Season 2 News
Posted By Ariane | On May 19, 2011 | Filed Under: Season 2 News

Via Variety George R.R. Martin has revealed what section of the second series he’ll be writing.

”… the novelist, who writes one teleplay per season, will pen the Battle of the Blackwater, a huge army/navy slugfest that takes up several chapters in the second book, “A Clash of Kings” (and could be, um, expensive).”

On top of that, the article mentions that executive producers and lead writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have considered a season 3, and how to film it if it comes to it. It’s suggested that it’d have to be a long season… or maybe two seasons. Where to split it?

    Emilia Clarke Interview
Posted By Ariane | On May 19, 2011 | Filed Under: Press

    Source: TV Squad

Q: As I was preparing for this interview, I was thinking about how much you, as a person, must have undergone what your character did, because she’s a young woman, untested, coming into this intimidating situation where she doesn’t know anyone and much is expected of her. It’s really similar to what you went through when you joined this huge production. Did you ever ponder that while you were taking on the role?
Emilia Clarke: Definitely, definitely. I mean, there were so many scenes that, on a fundamental level, I could completely relate with. I mean, the fear of the unknown and kind of dealing with that, and dealing with the pressure of it, I suppose, but then overcoming it. Daenerys always did, so I kind of took strength from that.

But how did you overcome that fear? It was your first big role on a film or TV project, so what was your method of dealing with the stress?
The method of dealing with the stress was the joy of being in love with the character and being in love with the series, and the acting just kind of takes over. I suppose that’s the lucky thing of me being kind of fresh out of drama school. I’m still filled to the brim with training. I can really kind of get into the acting side of things.
And then with Daenerys, it was easy too, because it’s such an all-encompassing, brilliant character that it was simple to just slip into that. That was the thing that got me through. Every time I felt unsure or scared in any way, I would just read the book and I’d read the script and I would work. It’s kind of what I’ve always done, I suppose. It worked.

Critical Myth Review: 1.3: “Lord Snow”

Despite the fact that this episode feels like a low-key, transitional episode, I enjoyed it quite a bit. In some ways I even liked it better than the last one. It’s not quite as complex as the previous two episodes, and I think that having a bit of time to take a breather from the conflict and get to know the characters and the situation better was a big part of the episode’s appeal for me. The episode might not have worked so well if I wasn’t so intrigued by so many of the characters.
